Homework for the week was sent out today. Please let me know if you have any questions. The students were told that ideally if they were being proactive and planning with the end in mind that they would could do one item a night with their nightly reading. Remember, as parents, you decide what is or is not too much for your child to complete in a given night or in a given week.
As we move into the third week of school, we are hoping to develop more independence in our kiddoes. I am very proud of some of the skills they have developed so far. As much as possible, we are wanting them to say goodbye to parents at the end of the hallway, so that they make that walk to class alone. This is an important step for them, and I feel that they are ready for this. I am so proud of our SuperHeroes!
Today students brought home our school fall fundraiser. If they complete the small book with 7 names and addresses, tomorrow they will receive a duck key chain. The larger book is for different orders. Each student who gets 3 orders gets the "ninja duck" which is a collectible. Each student who gets 10 orders will get the whole duck collection. This fundraiser raised a lot of money for our school last year, and will help to support our leadership initiative!
Also, if you would like to donate to people who have lost their homes in the recent fires, Mrs. Snow has put out an Enews that details what is needed:
I know everyone is horrified by what we are seeing happening in our Austin area community this weekend in various locations. The fires still continue and many families have lost everything and are displaced.
Please join us in assisting our neighbors in this time of need. We are collecting the following items for delivery to shelters and churches in the Bastrop community (and possibly other locations as things unfold):
Firefighters are also in need of Sports Drinks to replenish fluids.
Bottled Water
Non-Perishable Food
Gift Cards to HEB, Walmart, and such
New Packs of Underwear and Socks
Gently Used or New Clothing
We will just collect the donations along the walls of the main hall here at Teravista. This has always been such a giving community. Let's pull together and help our neighbors in a real time of need and disaster.
